Hi,

A couple of things that I would really like to see in version 2.0 although I know my request is really asking a lot. I'm of the opinion that if I don't say what I'd like to see, I'll never see it... so here goes!

1. I have a lot of visitors to my site wanting to sell their cars. What I would like to do is offer these 'customers' a chance to advertise their car using AD through their own log in, where they register and pay a nominal fee for this service through pay pal?

2. I see someone else mentioned the checkboxes to add specification items to their listings. I personally would find this a whole lot easier, although I personally know it's a lot of work especially with the import of CSV files (Which is so brilliant! - Thank you!)

3. I have a network of over 3,000 dealers which I send emails to regularly. Is there any way of adding a 'feature' to send out my stocklists using a PHP webmailer from my AD admin section? I guess this would/could work for existing and past customers as a marketing feature within the program where dealers send out their stocklist to remind them to come back when they are looking to change their cars.

4. Similar to request 3, I deal with the trade a lot. Is there any chance of having a 'Trade' log in where dealers can see the stock that is on my website, but instead of having a retail price, having a trade price?

I'm sure that this section of the forum is going to be my favourite hang out! I'm not brilliant with coding which is why AD is so amazing for me.

Is there any possibility of displaying prices in more than one currency?

I sell UK, European and American supplied cars and advertise in different currencies. Therefore it would be really beneficial to me to be able to choose a currency to display.

They're all great ideas, thanks Matt.

1. Several people have asked for an AutoTrader-like system where customers can advertise their own vehicles. It could end up being a modified application or an extension, but we're definitely considering it.

2. Customisable checkboxes are top of the priority list!

3. A stock list email newsletter system is an interesting idea that no one's mentioned before. Would anyone else be interested in that? Do you send a list of every vehicle, or customise it for certain dealers?

4. Trade prices is a great idea too. You could handle that now by having a main 'customer' showroom and a 'trade' showroom, but you'd only give the trade URL to trade customers. Assuming your data's in a file, the import wizard would help you set that up very quickly.

5. You can set a showroom to pounds, dollars or euros - do you mean that you sell the same cars in different currencies? Again, separate showrooms with the same cars but different currencies is possible, but I agree that it could be an easier option.

Thanks for addressing my points with such positivity. I really thought I was asking too much here!

My replies:

1. Fantastic. Similar to Autotrader in that they are classified ads inputted and paid for by the customer.

2. Brilliant! Thanks.

3. Personally I let my customers or recipients pick and choose what they are interested in. You never know who is looking for what or who is going to buy what, so I send everything to all dealers.

4. Thanks for the suggestion, it's a great idea. I would prefer to have a separate showroom as you suggested, but to protect this it would have to be on a log in basis.

5. Another fine suggestion. I think that the way I'm setting up my showroom is going to be a little difficult to use multiple showrooms, but thanks for the suggestion. I would really need this option to make my life a whole lot easier.

On 3 - this might be useful for us - A sort of "print option" ?? We send a list of what cars are available to our sales team, so having a way of emailing that or printing (or both!) a short list of whats on the website could be handy.

Might be nice as a "sales" login so the head sales chap can do it without the admin functions visible.

I have created 3) for my client, a hidden password web page that extracts basic info of the cars, (the reg number links to the actual car). It mainly shows the views and email counts, There is a print css file so each dealership can print out their stock. Pretty simplistic, but the client loves it!

The php code is quite generic so it could be added to any site reasonably easily.
